Medicinal use: This species is cultivated on a large scale in France, where the flowers are used in the perfume industry. In Costa Rica they are used to scent wardrobes. It has been used medicinally in cases of headache, arthritis, cholera, seizures, delirium, dysentery, dyspepsia, epilepsy, fever, inflammation, rabies, rheumatism, sores, tuberculosis, tumors, cancer, spasms, conjunctivitis, nausea, as an astringent, repellent, alterative, aphrodisiac, insecticide, stimulant and emetic.
