Scientific name: Citharexylum donnell-smithii
Origin: Mexico and C America
Medicinal use: This species of tree is common in the Central Valley, in gardens, parks and residual forests. The tree reaches about 15 meters in height, with dense foliage. It produces tiny, whitish flowers in elongated clusters, which are pollinated by insects. The fruits are of a color that varies between yellow and orange, which when ripe are almost completely black.
