Scientific name: Mussaenda philippica
Medicinal use: Mussaenda philippica is a plant species in the family Rubiaceae that grows as a shrub or small tree. Native to the Philippines it is commonly grown elsewhere as an ornamental species. The most attractive thing about these plants are the colorful sepals that accompany the flowers. There can be numerous sepals associated with a flower or just one (it depends on the species). The sepals are very similar to the leaves but they are completely colored.
