Medicinal use: The oil from the seeds is used locally for lighting purposes. The fresh olive-like fruits are edible, although not of good quality, so they are not highly valued. The pulp of the fruit is sweet but a little astringent. The kernel from the seed produces 62% edible oil and contains a toxic crystalline glycoside.
