Origin: Mexico to S America
Medicinal use: Used in hedges, forage and shade for crops. It is used to stabilize river beds and rocky slopes. Lumber for heavy construction (pitchforks, beams), general construction (floors, doors, window frames), joinery (furniture, musical instruments, tool handles), plywood, pulp for paper, and fence posts. Trees of this species are also appreciated in meliculture and arboriculture projects.
