Origin: Mexico and Tropical America
Medicinal use: This tree provides a bright yellow dye that works quickly on tissues when used with mordants. It can be mixed with other stains and other mordants to produce a range of colors ranging from yellowish to greenish. Its wood is used for the manufacture of very good quality veneer and for sawmill. It presents some problems in its handling as it is very hard and heavy and has certain amounts of resins.
