Origin: W China

Medicinal use: A tonic made from the chopped Tibetan gentian roots is said to work wonders for stimulating the digestive system and liver. In addition to this, gentian from Tibet is used to flavor liqueurs. The seeds of the tibet gentian germinate quite well, unlike the European house gentian. In traditional Chinese medicine, the qin jiao plant (as it is popularly known) is used for liver diseases and for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
