Medicinal use: The fruit and the leaves are beneficial for stomachaches, headaches and discomfort caused by hemorrhoids. Tomatillos have a slightly tart, lemon-like scent that is more flavorful when picked green than if the fruit is allowed to turn yellow, red, or purple. Mixed with garlic, onion, and herbs like cumin and coriander, tomatillos lend themselves well to vivid Mexican recipes like enchiladas, tacos, and burritos. They are also excellent in soups, sandwiches, and salads.
